All you need to do is open the Task Manager and enable the option that will let you view the full path of every process. Here is what you need to do:

1. Open the Task Manager
2. Go to the View Tab
3. You will see a list with checkboxes. Check the Command Line option.

Now you will be able to see the full path for each file working rundll32.exe and then determine whether it is in the System32 directory or not. To see what precisely is running the process, you need to hover your mouse pointer over the file name in inquiry. If it is not working in the System 32 folder, then immediately scan your computer with a good antivirus and antimalware programme. Windows XP users will have to use a program called Process Explorer to get all the necessary information, because XP Task Manager does not let you see the whole path. Process manager is a free Microsoft utility that does not need to be set up. Just double click it on the .exe file to establish it.
